View Full Version : Opinions on the possible AMD mult lock.
I was wondering what you all thought of the article on the front page about the possibility of AMD locking thier processors. Do you think they will actually do it or with continue on leaving them unlocked.

If they see lots of fraud and abuse they will lock them and with the powernow I think they will start locking them again. I just wish I didn't believe it myself.
Simple, FSB overclock. Works for me

Most definately on the FSB overclock. Raising the multiplier doesn't affect the processing speed as much as raising the FSB. I am a Seti@Home cruncher, and I can take identicle machines - overclock by multiplier on one, and FSB on another, and the FSB overclocked rig will process work units much faster.
Let them lock the multiplier - just don't take my FSB adjust away.
Yeah, but for people like me, I have an older core AJFA. It's a 200 fsb chip with a mult of 10. I am now at 1200 (133X9), the chip will not POST at 1330. If the chip were permanently locked I would have been u-p the creek without a paddle. One of the reasons I like AMD so much, other than the amazing performance of their chips, is the freedom to do what I want with MY proc. That's why I am wondering what all of my fellow AMD fans are thinking of this possibility.
