I recently re-installed bf1942. The game plays horrible on my machine(see below, rig 1). I have the latest patch which should fix the performance issues 1942 used to have back when it first came out.
I used to play it it on the 2nd rig below as that was my main machine. The game played fine w/ highest settings and highest resolution and best sound quality.
Now I have a faster rig, w/ better proc and more mem but it plays lousy?!?!
Is there a fix I should know about?

hmm have you tried playing older drivers (if you have updated) maybe try going back to ones you were using at the time?

also perhaps a fresh install of the game using an older patch and see if it runs ok

I did try a nvidia update and the performance did improve slightly. W/ my old set up(rig 2) the game would play on highest settings 1280x1024, max graphics and sound...no prob. I guess I should install it on that rig to see if how it plays.
This rig can still play ut2004 at max settings and far cry at high settings...so BF1942 should be blazing IMO:rolleyes:

i suspect that the leaked 60.72 drivers helped my performance in BF1942. Not sure entirely if they are the cause... but it's worth a try.

This is on a GF4Ti4400, AXP2100, 768mb ram, and audigy 2 zs

make sure your soundcard drivers are up-to-date. try reducing the number of ingame sounds (via the sound options tab in the game) to 32 or even 16 instead of 64. turn off Hardware Acceleration if it is already on. BF had huge troubles with sound cards... see if that helps.

Done all that. That used to be the case when BF1942 first came out. It was not long when new patches came out and then I could raise the settings and the game played very smooth. I am surprised to be having the same issues.
Seems to play fine on my 2nd rig. I have not done a full test yet to compare.

The 2nd rig plays it very smooth. So I did a VIA update and it is playable now. Still not as smooth as the other comp..but playable.
