I have came up againsta wee prob on my lads pc at home and could do with a bit fresh input guys so............

The pc in question kept putting out errors .....ie explorer or prog ?? has caused an invalid blah blah blah

SO i am in the middle of trying to get it ship shape again and ive hit a real nippy situation,,Its a 15gig hdd partitioned to a 10 and a 5 (c,d) with win 98se 0n the c drive
anyway i had to format an for shear ease of use i done this via partition magic which is par for my course, trouble came in the form of re-installing the graphics driver and made a silly move which i was aware off.And as i only have the driver in a zip burnt onto cd(no official disks in my house ;) ).i cant install as per usual driver install so after a splat i usually let the pc fire in a **** 16 colour special and install my driver then ,
there is a mad move i need to make when i put this driver in and its before i reboot after install i need to make a quick visit to my con panel and display settings and put it up to 256 b4 i reboot then i get the options youd expect 24bit etc
but this time i neglected to make that move usally when i do this i just boot into safe mode remove the driver and start again. but **** of ****s i cannot get anywhere near the con panel as no matter what way i go about ti i t gives me the explorer has caused an invalid blah with "unknown" wont close and hangs when i try to sneak into con pan
so i thought win reinstall which is now hanging to the max at the last hurdle when it is configuring u guessed the con panel!!!!So now i think i need to format but im puzzled as what to do with the partition apparently fine(d drive) any one help with so command line prompts that will help???????i have an image of a working win 98se system which has done the job b4 but there was no partition then will it still work?? do you think it wil do the c drive and then by default let me have my partition back sos sos thanx dudez.......sorry so long winded and not directly o/c related but ive had nothing but goodness from the guyz here so ...........respect trapper

Just a guess here. I would use Fdisk from your 98 boot disk to blow away all the partitions. I am assuming there is nothing on the D drive. And then reset the partitions using Fdisk. Make sure the partition is a primary Dos. I'm sure you know this but also make sure that you format after setting the partition.

good luck and keep us posted.
