ACcording to HS reviews SLK94U and SP97 perform similarly on both AMD and Intel systems.

The forum is however full with users advising SP97(heat pipes)
Is there really any difference at all?
Did anyone replace one with the other and seen a change?

Thanks, Gil.

Well the SP-97 is the top of the range Thermalright. It is the best; by around 1 degree celsius.

If I was going to go out and get a new heatsink and money was no issue, I would get an SP-97.

But all Thermalrights since the SLK 800 perform similarly, with the difference being only a couple of degrees. I bought an SLK 900 because it was half the price of the SP-97 at the time and gave almost identical performance.

You won't see much of a change if any. If you were wanting to buy a Thermalright heatsink, I would say just buy the cheapest one from the SLK 800 upwards.

P.S. This should really be in the cooling forum.
