Radeon2 has 600MHz Ram support and GeForce 3 Ultra also has 600MHz Ram support.

Is it me or is nVidia and ATI copying strategies by using all the same types of electronics. I bet ya they use the same pcb type too!

Also, I heard rumors that the GeForce 3U will come with 2.8ns DDR Ram. That would mean it could run normal conditions at 667MHz. But watch nVidia cry and whine and tell there manufacturers to lower the speed to specs.

I notice companies tend to do this like with the GeForce3, you were supposed to get 4ns ram but some people were getting 3.8ns with some boards. hmm, interesting.

Where did you hear about the Geforce 4?

I read that the X Box geforce card is blowing away the PC geforce 3.....is that true? I can't believe that a gaming concole is beating a PC

The Geforce core in the Xbox runs at 250mhz *cough* GF3 Ultra *cough.* =]

I'm not surprised it's faster than a pc version though. With the pc version of teh GF3 they have to worry about compatability with a large body of hardware and games. All Xboxes will have the same hardware specs so Nvidia was able to design the chip for optimal performance on that specific system.
Also, there are no pc games that take advantage of the GF3 right now. All games for the XBox are designed specifically for the XBox. The games designers know what every XBox will have in it and they can design their games to take full advantage of the hardware without having to worry about whether some people won't be able to run it or not.

Graphics wise the XBox is going to be outstanding, I'm going to wait for the Game Cube myself. Metroid Rules! =]

There's all sorts of speculations, I combined a few to get a good average, and found roughly this....

Nvidia GeForce4 Specs

It may not be called GeForce4, but that certainly comes after 3. Anyhow, here are some rumored specs for NV25, the nVidia chip following the current NV20 (GeForce3):

250-300 MHz core
250-300 MHz DDR memory
128MB RAM
2 Vertex Shaders (like Xbox)
2.4 gigatexels/second @ 300 MHz
9.6 gigabytes/second memory bandwidth @ 300 MHz
Possibly some DirectX 9 features
Also, possibly further improvements to the Lightspeed Memory Architecture

Remember that these are only rumored specs, but the additional vertex shader, more memory, and higher clock speeds seem very likely. The current GeForce3 only has 1 vertex shader, and the Xbox xGPU has 2 vertex shaders

Keep up to date with the gossip at nV News (http://www.nvnews.net/)

If nintendo can pull out some decent rpgs Ill go for the dolphin or game cube as they are calling it now. I just think it looks better as of right now.

These companies do this intentionally. 1 -- to guarantee they meet specs, and 2 -- for overclocking.

The card I have is 3.8NS RAM, most were, it was more common than the 4NS variety.

about Game Cube,

don't you guy's agree that Nintendo made a small booboo not choosing DVD? The smaller disc's cube uses hold only a third of the capacity and are far more expensive! since there rare. Expect $80CAN for a Nintendo game because of this sham.

There will be a 90% chance that GeForce 4 will be true. But it might still be 4 pipelines since thats what the GeForce name was for now wasnt it? GeForce256/2GTS/2ULTRA/3/3ULTRA. The MX didnt count cause it was meant to mean, "Harness the power of nVidia GeForce while keeping the price down".

But according to many jap sites, it appears that everyone says the 4th GeForce line would start with 315MHz. hmm. odd number eh.

nVidia GeForce4 is NV25 and nVidia Eclipse is NV30 btw.
