the fact that he puts a fax modem in his systems, makes me laugh, if you can afford to pay 3400 on a computer, I would think you could afford at least DSL

ROFL MY FAVORITE QUOTE IS STILL THERE.
I only choose Michael's Computers over any other company because it’s far better to know the maker and someone you can trust and is a Christian

Im not up on Intel tech, but most of this stuff on this page appears to be

He also appears to have stopped "selling" notebook computers as well. I thought that he was going to take down the recommendation from the United States Navy as it was proven that they had never heard of him, but I guess he didn't want to get rid of all the BS on his website.

funny, i e-mailed microsoft about the windows xp2004 thing he had on his site and i e-mailed AMD about his supposed fx-51 3400. i e-mailed their fraud and piracy depts. amd i didn't think would care but microsoft i knew would say something to him mistitling their software. they mention in their piracy section fo their website thats one of the things they look for. glad both lies are fixed.

both those 2 things are gone. he now says windows xp without mentioning 2004. and got rid of the fx-51 3400.

i feel my work is done.

my guess as to why he claims the navy has his systems is this.

he gives a buddy of his a system to test. his buddy happens to be in the navy. his buddy writes him a good review and whala he now has a good review from the navy.well not really but its enough for him to put it up and be somehwat credible should someone ask.

Those machines aren't using the Prescott chip, they are using EE.

The thing that bothers me is how unprofessional he goes about his stuff. What kind of company makes a blatant stab at another company, one that isn't even in competition. And if I recall, an FX-53 is faster than a 3.4EE. I wish that Asian guy from Tom's had a video of them actually using the computer, at least we would have PROOF.

First, I agree with tom10167 about the unprofessional comment about AMD. My understanding also is that the AMD FX-53 is faster than the Intel chip and it's 64-bit. Seems to me that Michael hasn't really done his homework.

Second, if I was paying that much for a new computer I would expect it to have at least 2 10,000 RPM Raptor Drives in a RAID 0 setup.

Third, for that much money he really should have included the latest and greatest video card x800.

Just my .02

Intel's Pentium 4 3400MHz 'E' HT Processor

That tells me he's using a Prescott. E is Prescott stepping, yes?

Here's another good quote with some interesting bits of info in it:

All MX8's models also include all necessary cables and connectors, Microsoft Enhanced Media Player, Microsoft Direct X9.1, Microsoft Internet Explorer 6, Microsoft Outlook Express, Total system setup with complete optimization, tutorial manuals as well as built in tutorial software is included, and our unbeatable 8 year limited warranty. Show off display software is also installed to visualize the incredible performance of the each system. All models also include free trials of America Online (Now with 1000 Free Hours) , Prodigy and Earthlink. When ordering, user decides on operating system of choice: Windows Millennium or Windows 2000 Professional Edition.

Note that it basically comes with NO software aside from the OS and it doesn't even offer WinXP!

Look here: http://www.michaelscomputers.com/MX8IntelSystems.htm

They have XP that must be an page or something(99?) And you're right about the Prescott, I thought it was EE. ^__^

I think, in all honesty, he's a moron. He just can't get it through his head that his scam was revealed for what it is, and decided that changing a few things to seem more legit makes everything ok again.

Looks like Tom's Hardware is going to have to re-review :D

Not to turn this into a flame or anything but he says "From Gamers to Business and Education to Graphics". With that in mind, the Intels do have the upper hand for complex processes such as rendering, but if you are just a strict gamer, AMD is the way to go. Anyone have that MaxPC article where they compare CPUs to cars? Didnt they say that AMDs were like Hondas for just being flatout quick and the Intels as 67' Stangs for having the raw power or something along the lines of that?

Right, so shouldn't they offer two? One for gamers and one for everyone else? I have a hard time believing anyone BUT gamers are going to be using these.

Somehow I doubt Sprint, Sony, JBL, and Xerox are going to opt for an independent company run by one person. Tech support anyone? :)

Cerberus2k7

Yes, yes, and I agree about the offering 2, just to give variety, and it is a pretty pathetic attempt to flame another company. I mean, i've seen Falcon NW take a stab at Voodoo and alienware, but that was in a letter, not some out in the open easy to view web site in bold blue writing. :p

And have you guys read everything that's in that little cheap-o flash animation?

One part says "Why settle for a slow PC ? When the MX8 is the World's(Is that right?) only INSTANT PC with Integrated Click Instant Technology"

Does he mean Windows Update? :p

"Q: When a client says “But what about support? We have always chosen Dell"

A: The United States Navy couldn’t have said it better, “Michael, I have associates who say they want Dell because of the support of when something goes wrong (laughing) and something will always go wrong with a Dell. And getting assistance was extremely troublesome. I went through the same thing with Gateway and Compaq. When you need the support, who are going to end up speaking with? The maker of the system or some hired phone support of Dell, who doesn’t even know the specifics of your system, but only by a textbook they have in front of them that may only solve half of the problem. I only choose Michael's Computers over any other company because it’s far better to know the maker and someone you can trust and is a Christian.”

What?? since when has religion been a deciding factor in pc buying??? he cant even manage proper grammar! Interesting stab at dell systems too...
*edit* - and intel systems with "microsoft xp and service pack2"??? didnt think the official was out yet?

See, Voodoo, Alienware, Falcon, those are COMPETITORS. Michael's Computers taking a stab at AMD? That would be like Toyota making fun of Goodyear tires.

Here's another suspiscious looking site: http://go-l.com/

On the surface (like Michael's Computers) it appears completely legit (and it's also a much better done website than Michael's). However, if you start reading some of the claims, things start to get a little weird. Things like claims of having a maximum of 16 gigs of RAM through the use of a RAM-drive card (huh? I know what RAM-drive cards are and they're completely un-related to system memory) make me very suspicious.

EDIT: I was just looking at the "Graphics" section of the MachL 3.8 Desktop and he claims to have a 9800 XT clocked up to 493 MHz Core with the stock meat-tendurizer heatsink!

I've always been confuses as to where they put the cd rom drives in those computers. It appears to me that they do not come with one at all.

But goodyear has a reason to flame back. Remember all those rollovers about a year back? :p And the stab Falcon took wasn't all that bad, I guess it could be taken eitherway. The president simply said that they will overclock computers and still give them a warranty. Then said something like "At least we don't rob our customers out of a 3 year warranty for an extra 4FPS in UT2k3" It was in a maxpc mag. I'll see if I still have it. :p

Anyways, back onto the subject at hand! Did some roaming and googling on that other site listed and found this...

Go-L has been proven to be somewhat legit at least. Although they do misrepresent (well, more like blantantly lie about) the specifications of some of their products, it has been proven that they actually sell computers and people have actually had notebooks shipped to them.
There is more info on this on some threads @ http://notebookforums.com/ and there are also some threads at this forum that I'm too lazy to dig up

This after Tom's did an investigative peice on him :D.
