I'm in the market for a tv tuner card for my computer but I have already spent so much on it I don't feel like spending a lot for a new $98 TV Wonder Pro. What's the difference between the pro and the ve? Can someone suggest a good/cheaper alternative?
Thanks
Im pretty sure that the VE only has a coaxial input, and the PRO has RCA inputs

Its a decent card. Not great by any means, but it is cheap, and has a remote that works with Girder (www.girder.nl) so you can customize it to act however you want. However, whenever I record TV, it has a slight high pitched whine in the background. Otherwise, its a pretty good card. Image quality is good, and the remote can be configured to do whatever you want with Girder.

No, I have the VE and it has one coax and one RCA in.
I got it for $50 at best buy and I like it.

I'd highly recommend the leadtek winfast deluxe TV tuner. My ATI VE was terrible compared to this one.

If you are gonna do a lot of recording TV shows, spend the extra money for a card with hardware encoder. If you just wanna watch TV on your computer, you have lots of cheap options, even the USB models are decent. If you wanna use your monitor as a TV, with the computer off, check out some of Viewsonics tuners. As you can see, lots of ways to go. Mostly depends on what you'll use it for. All of the above can be found in the $25-$200 range.
peace.

I will be using the card mostly for watching tv, I'll probably be doing a little recording, not all that much though. It doesn't matter to me if my computer has to be on or not but I bet having one that can run with it off would be more expensive.

So far I see very good reviews. Thanks for the suggestion.
