Anyone taken apart an antec PSU. I would like to change the exhuast fan on the PSU. It seem to be running too slow causing the PSU to be kinda of hot...
It's possible, people have done it before. Just make sure when you open it up don't touch the Heatsinks or large capacitors because they can hold enough charge to severly hurt or even kill you. Unplug the PSU leave it for about 20 to 30 min this will allow the bleeder resistors to drain the caps to let you be safe when working inside. But still be careful PSU's are dangerous things.

You dont even need to change the fan, you could just unplug it from the fan controller (in the psu, it goes by temp that is why it is spinning so slow, if it were to get really hot it would spin much faster.) and plug it in a 3-4pin adapter, or wire it to a 4pin plug, and it would be running full speed.
For the most part the Antec TruePower's spin the fans really slow...
The only time they really will spin up is when you are taxing the power supply...
Which in my experience, anyway is not a easy thing to do with a 430...
The air coming out of the power supply should be warm.
If you do decide to replace it you will need to make sure to install a higher CFM fan than the one you are replacing or it will spin just like the original OEM fan inside the power supply.
I personally wish they would spin faster also...But in my humble opinion considering you loose your warranty it is not worth the trouble.

I have 3 Antec True power's 430, 480 and a tru control 550 and I have taken all of them apart to sleave them, Its not any fun if you cant void the warrenty :D
I had the same thought as you and swapped out the one in my 430 for a panflo. After running the fan full blast and also running it as a replacment and stress testing them with prime I couldnt find any advantage in it. I put the original fan back in and its been running almost non stop for almost 9 months without any problems. The Antec's are just great solid PS's

The PSU is affecting my case temp. Thus the rise in case temp makes the rise in temp for my CPU too. So thinking of changing the fan.
