Hi, I recently put this setup together:
ASUS P4C800 Deluxe
P42.8c
512 MB Corsair XMS3200 LLPT
ANTEC Trueblue 480W
And for the time being using the following components form an older system till I purchase the rest:
Gainward G4 Ti4200 128MB
SB Audigy
I know I have an old 4x Graphics card but im only getting a score of around 10000 on 3d 2003 but im sure I should get a little more than that.
Is this about right? does anyone know a website or software were I can compare to simialr PCs?
Also does anyone recommend any components in which to improve this crappy score that im getting?
Any help wold be appreciated
Thanks

I think you mean 3DMark 01, 10k is a bit low, 12k would be about right. What drivers are you using? The best for the GF4Ti's are the 40_XX - 44_XX range. You can get them from guru3d.com. Most people tend to use the 44_03's.

Thanks for the reply I think I meant 3Dmark 01, I will see whihc drivers I am using and amend accordingly, I will give it another shot and report back.
So you reckon though the low score has the graphics card to blame?

10,000 is pretty low for that system. I'd say it's your video card mainly limiting your score but do you have your computer overclocked? You should be able to gain a good amount of points if you overclock everything. Do alot of tweaking to your computer. People have said you can gain a substantial raise in points if you use WIN2K but I don't know if it's true. Good luck

10-12K is probably about right if you are running default CPU speed and default video card GPU/memory speeds. 3dmark01 will benefit from overclocking your CPU and your video card.

Hi I managed to get hold of the 44.03 driver and re-ran 3DMark01 again and this time got a result of 11921.
I feel this is good but comparing it it looks as if some people can get as high as 15k. I havnet overclocked yet becuase I want to get the best possilbe performance from stock and then improve on it.
I wanted to ask about the driver becasue when I comapre my system to others on the website, I can see they are using the "Graphics Chipset" as a NVIDIA Geforce 4 Ti4200 but their driver name sometimes is NVIDIA Geforce 4 Ti4800SE. Does this mean they have simply downloaded a driver for the 4800 and are using to runt he 4200. Should I try this?
Also is it worth me trying a few other drivers such as 41.03 which I alo see alot or is it more or less the same as the 44.03?
Im sure I cant get around 13k stock or am I just dreaming again?

About the 4800SE thing, the SE has the same clock speed as a 4200 (as far as I know) and that is the reason for it sayings it 'both' as it were.
The 41_03 is a very good driver for 3DMARK01 I use it myself, but it does have a problem with running Halo, so if you play that you might want to stick with the 44_03's.
Also if you Right click your desktop then go Properties>Settings>Advanced>GeForce4>Performance and quality and make sure that 'Performance - Application' is set to 'Aggressive'
and
Properties>Settings>Advanced>GeForce4>Direct3D Settings and find 'Mipmapping' and make sure its set to 'best perfomance'
I'm not sure what the default for those options are, they could already be like that each driver seems to be a little different.
