I'm fixing someones PC, which has a P4 1.6GHz Willy in it. How hot are these damn chips supposed to run? The CPU is running at 55c according to MBM, and the heatsink is extremely hot. When she brought it, it would turn itself off when the CPU was stressed. I took the heatsink off, scrapped the gunk off, along with some thin aluminish piece of metal.. Anyways, I applied AS5 and resteated it, and it hasn't crashed since then. Folding and prime has been runnin for about 12 hours wiithout any problems, but I can't get over how much heat this thing generates. The whole case is warm, and it's making my room a living hell. She has no case fan, and I'll probably be putting one in for her.

Are willys really supposed to run this hot???? I can't understand why people used to complain about AMD Pallys back then.

i've had a 1.8 and 2.0 willy. both would only oc 400mhz, and both ran around the same temps once oc'd. maybe 30c idle, and 38c load?

I wish this thing's temps were around there... But this thing is running stock and it's practically burning up. It has to be over 55c, the HS feels a lot hotter than that.

Willies do run hotter than Northies. The default vcore is 1.75v on them compared to 1.5-1.525v of the Northwoods. Definitely needs some case ventilation.
