View Full Version : tbird 850 does it need more juice??
I just bought a tbird 850 after I fried my duran 700 and I'm ****ed. this processor is a piece of crap did I just get a bad proc or do they require more then 1.85 volts. I have a msi ktpro2-a board with 256 pc133 and with the duran I could run it at 9.5x107=1017@ about 40c with a super orb. I don't want to hear anyone complaing about the super orb on how much it sucks cause it ain't that bad. The point is I can't get above the 9 multiplyer witht this 850 and it craps out @9x103=927. By craps out I mean wont post I cannot post at 9.5 multiplyer or anything above 105fsb. Please tell me any ideas cause I'd really like to avoid doing the soldering for a volt mod on the board but if I need to I will. Oh yeah the tbird right now is at 36c so heat is not an issue.
oh yeah I don't know the code on the core but if it is an issue I could rip it all a part to find out. I expected this to at least boot up with a 10 or 11 multiply at 100fsb. Thanx for any replies
After having so much success with my DURON 600's and a couple of high end (1G & 1.2G) T-BIRDS, I have been disappointed with a 650 BLUE CORE T-BIRD that I can only get to 850MHz on the same boards.
Frustrating but that's the luck of the draw.
but only posting at a 9x multiplyer max on a 850 sucks especially if it is at below 35c

I had the same problem with my 850. It turned out that the L1's were not closed good enough and I used conductive ink. I would recheck them. My 850 will run at a max of about 1020 stable now but I usually keep it at 1.0. I don't think its the voltage thats the problem. It's probably that orb
Good Luck.
