Uninstalling Directx 8.0a?

It didnt install right and I need to reinstall it. reinstalling it doesnt work I think I need to install a lower version of directx and then install directxx 8.0a again any ideas? I looked in the add/remove programs and directx isnt there :/

I tought that the only way rid DX was a Windoze reinstall :)

Nah - Microsoft got so many complaints about not being able to do stuff, the released Tweakui, a registry editor, to let you do all sorts of cool stuff, including un-installing DirectX8.0
