I have a computer with a 2800+ Barton. It has been running at 175Mhz FSB stable for a while now.
Today I altered the multiplier from 12.5 To 12 to see whether it was locked or not. It was locked and so I had to reset the cmos to get it working again. It worked... for a while. Now it restarts every ten to twenty minutes and it restarts whenever I put it into a game of any sort. I have tried resetting the bios back to default but the problem remains.
Has altering the multiplier damaged the locked processor?
