the cpu case I have has a hole right at the back of the cpu when I remove the backside of the case. I can clearly see where the cpu is on the other side so I mounted a large case fan directly blowing agaist back of mb where cpu is. My temps droped like 8c is that bad? Is the cooling on the back of the mb just telling me a false cpu temp now or it actually cooling the cpu. I don't want my board saying I'm at 40c when the cpu is really at 55 or something.

I believe it has been said that cooling the back of your mobo can and will give you false readings because most mobo temp probs take the reading from the air in the socket not directly from the cpu. So well this might give you a little bit of a temp differnce it is most likely not as big as your board tells you.

This is what I recall reading from an article on the front page some time ago but I could be wrong.
