Has anyone had any positive results after switching from their stock BIOS on a 9800 Pro to an XT BIOS? I heard that the XT BIOSes use higher latency settings for the memory and whatnot and therefore allow the card to clock a little higher.

If anyone has had any experience with this, I would love to know about it. I'm thinking about doing myself, but I don't want to end up with a bad flash or something unless it's worth it.

I've noticed no differences between no-flash and flashed performance wise.

What about overclocking wise?

As for me, I didn't get any better overclock out of it, I just did it because I could :D

I know how to do it, what it does, etc. I just just wondering who had had good results with overclocking because of the flash. I'll keep reading that sticky though.

Haven't gotten a better overclock out of it, really, but at least it boots up at 412/365 stock instead of having to use ATi Tool to bring it there. Plus I have an XT PCB, so it's kind of nice to have it working on the XT bios. My max OC so far using ATi Tool, separately and only tested for 10 minutes apiece with no artifacts, is 421/383. I'm going to need to let it run for a couple of hours one day to test further.

By 483 you mean 383...correct?

No, I mean 483 ... my card overclocks as if powered by the sun itself, deriving its super-human OC powers from the core of the solar system! ;)

Yeah, little typo ... I meant 383. Thanks. :D ;)

I wish I had a hydrogen powered graphics card...

Alright, those results and other reading have convinced me that the mod's not really worth the time. Thanks guys.
