I was wondering what's going on over here...I thought SETI shut down a few years ago b/c of lack of funding...
well obviously it hasn't, runnin strong. they have corp groups now that donate to the seti foundation. check out their home page. it's found on our page under linkz at the top right. btw, we just bought three of those Dell laptops at work. i love em cept for that cd drive always wanting to pop out when your walking downtown to a clients place. dropped the drive right in front of the court house. lol, oh well, lates

That's weird, have you checked the little things on the bottom that you have to slide to take the drive out? Maybe they're not locking. Haven't had any probs with mine, but I haven't really carried it around much, yet.
yeah i failed to see that after my boss said, hey wtf, didn't you lock the drive in. i felt very dumb. lol. we sent all three back cause they all just had problems. everything from just running dead slow to our ceo's computer being DOA. second time around much better. were finally happy, and we got those dock stations off ebay and are loving them even more. we've just about found a desktop replacement.
Basically seti@home records radio waves from space, chops them into small work units and sends them to members who search the waves for certian criteria and send back the results and then get more works units to process. It does not soud adictive but it is, especially if you are on an awsome team like ours  If you are intrested in helping our team out let us know and we will help you get set up. Oh yeah one cool thing is if you find et you get your name on the finding :D

Sounds cool...better than folding, right? :p So do you actually get to see/hear anything or is it just a little icon running down in your taskbar? I don't want to do it on my laptop, but on my desktop, I'd consider it...you guys should post a FAQ...
