View Full Version : What does Redundant power supply look like?
I have a ps I got from work and it has no ATX connector just a black cable with a green ground and four wires(black, white, brown and blue) can I hook this up to my Antec 403? if yes how?
U have any idea what sort it is? Is it voltage compliant? Hmmm, those colors seem awfully familiar... I kinda feel that those are the power switch lines of an old AT power. And in this case it would be missing the 5 and 12V lines for MB etc. completely. Yeah, Im pretty sure those were the colors. Think its a broken PSU if it aint got those black, yellow, red cables for HDD etc.
yeah probaly a POS PS so I will just carefully take it apart and have a look. I think you may be correct it is just missing the switch part! For the AT would you attach a ground to the case too?

It might be a power supply for something besides a computer (they do make those!)
I have one that only has a 12V and ground that I use to test fans with.
man the forum is changing while I am in it like in teh Matrix! yeah It could be for somemachine it does have 12 and 5volts so I know I could at least run fans with it or water cooling if I ever get off my ass.

If U somehow manage to hook it to yer Antec, theyd have their grounds hooked up also, so I bet its not necesary as any needed case grounding should come from the Antec.
If U just run fans with it, U could possibly hook the Antec to the AC output. If it has one, many ATs used to have. This ways the swich on the AT PSU would swich the ATX PSU also.

el, you missed your chance at deja vu.
To answer your title question:
In servers redundant power supply looks like a row of regular power supplies. Sometimes they are a set of 2 "units" that fit into a bay the size of a regular power supply.

The word redundant means twice or doubled or backed up. aka if one pws fails the other will pickup the slack .
The psp you have is an older AT style . the switch for the power is a double pole style switch. connect the brown and blue and black and white and the unit will operate. the wiring diagram should be on the side of the unit.
If you are not used to working with ac current DON'T . Please let some one meter it for you and hook it up.

Hmm. Interesting. I think I've seen those but I had no clue what they were.
