Old radeon about to die

My old 9100, which has server me for quite some time, has started artifacting in all my games. This card is in my 2nd rig, so its not necessary to get a new one immediatly, but maybe I can underclock it to fix the problems? I get lots of trash onscreen, random polygons everywhere. Is this a sign of bad ram or gpu? Think maybe an alcohol bath might help at all/

Something like that happened to my 9800pro this weekend. I nearly had a heartattack. I opened Radlinker and reset the core/mem speeds, then rebooted. Nothing. BIOS/POST looks fine, XP boot looks good, then just as it finishes booting into windows, garbage.
I opened radlinker again, and reset the the core/mem again. Reboot. Everything is fine!
...so I started OC'ing it again.

Well, this has happened in the past few days, where sometimes in a game the screen would go crazy for a second, then fix itself.
