I've been reading all this stuff about this AHYJA. I purchased a AMD THunderbird 1.4 mhz 266 OEM. How can I tell if I ended up getting a good processor or the other less good one?

Works for me.
Anyway the first letter or number of the3rd line of the cpu code is what is supposed to make a difference. A letter is considered better than a number.

Where on the CPU is the CPU code? I cannot get to that website :(

Is it on the actual chip?

Its on the cpu core.

Here's what the codes on a socket a core mean,
I hope this helps;

Don't worry about the codes, just overclock it till it won't go, any higher and sit back and be happy that you choose the superior brand of cpu. :p

Well I would agree with the "dont worry about the code' theory as well, all you can do is overclock it till it wont go any more and be happy.
I can also say from my short experience that different chips with different codes do make a difference.

I started out on Saturday with an AYHJA (K) ..yes "K" this was the first letter of the third line of code., I managed to get it to 1608 and fairly stable using a 12.0 x 133 (1.87v) setting, no higher no matter what I tried, lower multiplier, higher FSB etc...tried every imaginable configuration and this was the highest and most stable I could go.

Through a fluke and sheer luck you may call it I had to generate an RMA from the retailer I got a 1.33Ghz TBird from and they were out of 1.33Ghz at the moment so they upgraded me to a 1.44 and I received the box today, well it turns out that they sent me a RETAIL boxed cpu and only charged me for the OEM and better yet they only charged me the 1.33Ghz price! now heres the kicker, I got a AYHJA (Y) chip and proceeded to install it in my setup.

I didnt bother with the whole burn in thing I just went right to it, and I am now at 1632 which is 12.0 x 136, I have been playing Unreal Tourney with it for the last several hours and it appears to be perfectly stable, (this is how I test my OC). I will let you know tomorrow if that changes, but the moral of this post is there are NO (2) CPU's alike and your results WILL vary!
Current temps are 39c (idle) 42c (loaded). It should be noted that I also upgraded to the Antec 1030B case today as well and this dramatically improved cooling within the system. HOWEVER i was still not able to get any higher with the (K) version of the 1.4Ghz chip. (both the (K) and the (y) versions of my chips are RETAIL box NOT OEM, I am not sure if it makes a difference but a point for the record anyway.

GO FOR IT!
