I found an article on building a water bong and was wondering what type of cooling effect this would have on my Athlon 1.33.

What are the limitations with this type of setup?
Also, what could be done to improve it?
Thanks to all!

there are some excellent articles in the water cooling section of the overclockers.com front page. Check them out.

expect top water it daily...
you will not want to go more than 3 days wiuthout adding water to it.
i have a 20L resovoir and i lose 1-2liters of water a day
all this from a celeron 633 @ 1033 1.95 V
the water tower is 5'4"
and i got a 400GPH pump push 1/2 inch of water
Deeznuts,
Unfortunately the article you referenced has a very poor example of a bong cooler. Read Steve Pignato's "Nuclear Cooling Tower" article in the water cooling section of the front page.
FWIW, the bong cooler saved my summer overclock and is the only way I have been able to cool dual pelts. I am just about finshed with my automatic fill reservoir to make the system totally hassle free. I'll post some links to pics below. The images are to large to post in the forum.

what a setup Colin! Since I'm somewhat of an overclocking weenie,
I have no real idea how that thing attaches to the inside of your system. I just want to get my system to be stable and attempt small overclocks, nothing big.
Question to all:
If I get the Danger Den cube radiator, Supreme Mag Drive Pump (Model 3 - 350 gph) and copper waterblock (Danger Den maze 2???) should I have a system that I can grow into, or will I need to add a peltier? What about the condensation issues this causes? I definitely don't want to fry my rig!
Just how humid does running one of these things 24/7 make your room? I have been wondering about trying one but I dont want to warp all the posters on my walls!
I live in NC and leaving the window open on a hot day will make the room very humid. I assume if the air in the room is already humid it will reduce the effectiveness of the tower?
I also am not so sure I could stand the noise. I dont know if a trickle of water all day would be any less annoying than the constant hum of my radiator fan.

Oh and whats this autorefill setup?!
Deeznuts - Go for the Mag 7 and you will have a great system. I have found the Maze 2 and Cooling Cube can take all the flow a Mag 7 can put out. You may not need pelts to achieve your goals. The Cube is good for one pelt only.
Kibler - We use a swamp cooler in the summer. The humidity the bong cooler adds is negligible. High humidity levels don't seem to affect it's cooling ability. There is a sheet of 1/2 poly foam that floats on the water. This increases the surface area for better evaporation and dampens the noise.
Would a Rio180 be able to cope with a 1-1/2 to 2 ft bong?

Rio's Web Site should list the GPH at various head heights. Remember this is for 1/2" fittings. 3/8" tubing and your water block will reduce the flow considerably.
