Ok, so I have a D-link DWL-520 wireless pci adapter and a netgear MR314 wireless router.

I put the adapter into my computer, installed the drivers, and enabled it. Then i got on google real fast to see if it worked, which it did.

Then, after about a minute, nothing loaded (both internet sites and network shares)

So i restart, and the same thing happens, nothing loads after about a minute. After a while of restarting and trying to figure it out, i just got mad and put the adapter into my other pc.

In this pc, the wireless stays on for a while, but the connection goes funny. I can easily stay on AIM and talk to buddies, but opening webpages takes forever or doesnt finish at all.

BTW, both of the computers are about 10 feet from the access point, and they report a strong signal (planning to move one somewhere else but if it doesnt work here...)

I also want to add that my dads laptop, my brothers laptop, and my brothers palm all work fine on the wireless.

Any suggestions, or is this card messed up.

Sounds like the card works till it gets hot. My wireless adapter for my laptop gets very hot when in use...

It sounds like the card may be bad, if all other wireless clients are working fine. Just a thought/suggestion, make sure your pci wireless card is not installed next to any agp slot, as usually they share interupts. This can cause problems too.

Ok thanks for the responses. Soon i should have another card to test. Also, i put the card in the bottom slots for both computers.

Also, to add some more information:

right now in this computer i have both the wireless and wired connections active (for some reason the wireless wont disable, but it still uses the wired)

anyways, i looked at the activity, and the wired connection has about 300,000 packets sent and 30,000 received.

on the other hand, the wireless has 3,500 sent and 160,000 received.

does this have anything to do with the problem?

On that card the instructions require that you install the software first and then shutdown, install the card, then reboot. It should start working immediately after being found. I have 520's in four of my comps and none of them worked properly until I did it by the book.

Ok, thanks for the tip, i saw that but thought it was the same thing...

Also, i do not have the cd (brother lost it or something), so i downloaded the drivers from the website. However, there are two versions to choose from: "b2" and "501349"

ive tried them both, but still had my problem. Could this also be it or are these the same drivers as from the cd?
