This is what Im going by: http://www.motherboardfaqs.com/article.php?14.255 and I have all the stuff that I need.

My questions are:
1. The directions from the above website say to set the potentiometer http://www.radioshack.com/product.asp?catalog%5Fname=CTLG&category%5Fname=CTLG%5F011%5F002%5F011%5F000&product%5Fid=271%2D342 to 1-Ohm. How do I know that its at 1-Ohm, with the volt meter, and if so what setting on the voltmeter do I use to test it? I know that the little screw on the potentiometer will change the ohm's.

2. Once I solder the thing on, do I test the volts with the puter on or off? Also what setting do I use on the volt meter? This is the one that I have http://www.radioshack.com/product.asp?catalog%5Fname=CTLG&product%5Fid=22-810

As everyone can see Im a complete newb at this, any help would be greatly appreciated. Even other tips on how to do this would be great.

I don't think you should do any kind of volt mod if you don't know what to set your voltmeter at to measure voltage....

put it on the setting for ohms. once u do that then it will probably have a hi or low ohm setting or automatic(set it on low or automatic). then turn ur pot all the way to the left(counterclockwise), that will put in maximum resistance. (if the pot is a 250 pot it will sho 250 ohms) then turn the screw or knob to the right(clockwise). u will see the ohms decrease, keep turning it till u measure 1 ohm...

Why so they never learn how to do it properly?

Good luck with the mod, thats the same one I did and it works perfect. I ended up having to do the fix after it fell off a couple times and now its all good.

another thing, the best way to learn is to jump in there and do it urself, if u happen to screw up or break something dont worry just about everyone including me has screwed up...

I just mean he shouldn't start out with something that can be screwed up very easily.

Sorry for being an a-hole, ZTaylor. Just practice soldering lots of tiny, spare or broken components before you actually attempt the mod. Also use the 20v setting on the voltmeter, because 2v will be too low. Measure the voltage with the computer on, just be careful not to short anything out.

Hey thanks for the help guys.
