I understand there are two controllers for the SATA ports on my IC-7G? One from intel and other other from SI? Which one should I use and which port? Serial 1 or 2 or whatevers. Sorry for the newby questions. my first venture into SATA and I dont want to screw it up. Thanks.

Good luck with SATA. I am still exploring the realm of PATA :( .

However, really one way to figure it out is just try it. I did not know if I could run my ram in DIMM Socket 4, so I figured: "screw it, I have nothing to lose" and tried it anyways.

You can't damage either the controller or your drive by plugging it in the wrong one as far as I know, it just wont work if you have the wrong one. Perhaps all of them work.

If I were to take a guess however, I would say plug it into Serial 1, and use the SI controller. I never heard of SI to be honest. If that was a controller that was built into the motherboard, go for that. If that is some third party PCI card, just use the Intel or whatever is integrated into the motherboard. Good Luck!
