hi every1
im having problems booting with my 2nd hard drive i just bought
i had a 40GB HDD which is probably 1 or 2 years old, and i just got a 120gb WD HDD, when i hook them both up (i have formated the original 40GBHD) i get an error missing system, when i take out the 40gb hdd xp starts from the 120

Well it sounds like it's trying to boot from the 40 gig. With the drive hooked up, go into BIOS, then go into the Advanced BIOS settings page. Look at your boot order. It should say HDD-0 in one of them. Change it to HDD-1.

Let us know if the drives are in the same IDE cable or if you are using a different IDE cable for each one. If you are using the same cable make sure that that the old drive is set to master and the new one set to slave.
You can do this by setting the jumpers of each drive. Another way you could do this is to leave both drives on CS (cable select) and making sure that your 40GB drive (order drive ) is at the very end of the IDE cable (this is where the master drive goes - the other end connector goes to the MB) and put the new drive in the middle position.
