Did your Xp install become corrupt? if so reinstall using the repair existing install and you shouldn't loose anything.

I'm sure Outlook has its own backup function - can you maybe fire up Outlook in Linux using WINE or something?

i have a recovery cd and no system restore backup so i have to reinstall windows xp. i cant get to outlook in linux and backing up the e-mail is pretty important
Outlook express hold there data in *.dbx format (Ex: in.dbx,out.dbx....) and it is in normally located under documents and settings, under your user accounts (Ex:E:\Documents and Settings\SUSANTHA\Local Settings\Application Data\Identities\{0C91DB45-C35E-47C8-8E84-73BEFA4ECB9A}\Microsoft\Outlook Express) that's where i=mine kept. So copy those dbx files and copy them into another machine's same path method or tell outlook expres that u want to restore and give there way to those files. one thing remeember to enable hidden files :D so that's all do the backup, BTW if your windows is corrupted why don't u try the reinstalltion method?
