I'm looking for some easy to use freeware video editing software. It doesn't have to be real flashy I basically just want to remove commercials from shows I've recorded onto my HDD.
I've tried some software called Womble and it works great and is easy to use for what I need to do. But it cost 60.00$. I think that is a lot of money for what I need to do.
The software has to be able to edit MPEG or WMV files or both preferably. Any ideas?

I tried it. It sucks. Wouldn't open any of my movies. And the interface is awful so confusing way too much going on. Argg I feel I'm going to have to shell out the cash for Womble. It is the only program I've tried so far that was easy to use and would do what I wanted it to do in a short time. I can't believe there is not one decent freeware video editor just for cutting out stuff from MPEG's or whatever format.

yea avid is a really high end program. Its what most studios, TV stations, and AD agencies use as their main video editing software.

try Here (http://www.poweroid-video-editing.co.uk/Video_Editing_Software/free_video_editing_software.asp). It has a few links to ones that are free and a few demos.
Try http://www.dvdrhelp.com/tools
Tons of cool stuff listed on there, and good tutorials to boot.

There are probably at least 20 of what you want that are compatible with Linux. Check Sourceforge (http://www.sourceforge.net).

I'm not looking for what high end studios or TV stations use. I just want something that will cut out commercials.
I use VIRTUALDUB (http://www.virtualdub.org/). Easy to use & its free.

It would not open any of my files. How do I learn if it won't work?
