at the moment, im running on a rig with specs posted on my signature. i plan on playing farcry with this machine, aside from using my current graphics card. im going to soon replace that with an HIS iceq 9800 pro, which i guess is a balanced card.

my computer is somewhat lacking top of the line hardware (only ddr2100, 2.2 ghz, soon-to-be middle class 9800pro) and i was wondering if you guys think that it would be sufficient to run farcry at good settings

It will run far cry.

The gig of ram and a 9800 pro on a 2.2 Ghz processor is a fine combination.

Yup, it'll be fine. FarCry loves memory bandwidth, but it loves GPU bandwidth more ;) The PC2100 may hinder your framerates a little, but it's not going to be horrible. Your rig should do FarCry at "High Quality" settings (no AA, 4xAF) at 1024x768 without any problems. You might grab more performance if you set the shadow and particle detail down lower; those seem to require more CPU power.

With the 9800pro, yes, you should be able to run Far Cry at pretty good settings...
with your current video card though, you shouldn't even think about Far Cry... unless you like squares and circles for graphics :p
