Well I am gettin some pretty high tempatures on my amd 1.2 t-bird and i am thinkin of doing some major overclocking. What would be my options on getting a heatsink and fan.

This depends how hot your CPU is getting, any thing over 50Celsius and overclocking aint for you. I would Recomend a good Heatsink and fan, Millenium Glaciators are good and a 7000RPM fan could do some good aswell. Case Cooling also and there is loads about this on the overclockers.com Frontpage...

Hope this helps,

AMD 1.2Tbird @1.4
Gigabyte GA 7ZXR
Seagate 10.1Gb
etc etc

Hi wildbilly2k,
probably the best way are the ThermalRight SK6 or the Swiftech MC462-A and a thin layer of Artic SIlver II ;-)

Just note that case cooling and air flow effects the cpu temp. What could happen is that the air
just gets re-cycled and therefore heated continously! That will drop 10C sometimes or more.

Sk-6 with delta, Glaciator, or Swiftech 462-A are the way to go with some Artic Silver 2 on the chip.

well my case temps are bout 41c and i have 2 80mm in the high back blowin out and 1 80mm blowin in the front of the case. I cant put fan blowin in over the cpu on the side because there is a handle over where the cpu is but I could put a fan on the top of the case exausting!!! What should i do?

if your cpu is situated at the top of the case feel for where the hottest part of the case is put a fan there, exhausting the heat from the cpu most likely to be over where the CPU is situated.
In fact if you can put an exhaust fan as close as poss to your cpu correct me if iam wrong.

You must blow out the same air sucked into the case, so it's better add a fan on the left cover that sucks onto the Pci card.
The airflow into the case is like into a car engine, the exhaust must be the same of the intake to be coolest.

I hope it helps you ;-)

Maybe reverse the way your fans are now. Turn the 2 80's in and turn the one in front out. Just a thought.

In addition to the PSU, I have a 120 on the card side blowing in and an 80 in the front blowing out.

Isn't the best way :-)
the hot air go upper coz more 'light' (sorry for my English) than the cool, so the best is to suck air from the low and blow out from the high of the case.

well i also have a system blower sucking the hot air off my geforce 2 pro so should i still put a fan blowing air over the pci cards.

Would the Vantec CCK 6035D be a good cooler for doing some major over clocking or would the sk6 be a little better. I will have a delta 38cfm on either one.

I don't know the Vantec CCK 6035D, but however my choice is on the SK6 coz one of the best, like results in a lot of comparative tests. It's on my way to upgrade the TB box.

yes i am getting the sk6 with delta 38cfm fan on it and a 80mm and a 92mm to go in my case!!!

What kind of fan are you ordering?
I've used Sunon's for my case, for the intake 2x92mm (49Cfm) on the left side of case & 1x80mm (44Cfm) down/front, and for the exhaust 1x120mm (90Cfm) on top of case & 1x80 (44Cfm) up/back.

I hope it helps you :-)
