okay, I've got a gigabyte radeon 9600XT with 128 mb of ram. I'd like to know how to possibly prevent lockups when going past 550 mhz of overclocking. the temperatures are absolutely fine on the video card, but for some reason, when I push the core even a tenth past 550, it'll lock up during a benchmark. I want to know if this is because I need to possibly raise the voltage (somehow--I've got NO idea how to raise it, if you even can) in order to be able to overclock it more. are there any suggestions? at all? cause I'm having trouble OC'ing this thing. help me out.
the card will lock up or does it artifact? and you may have just reached the highest the card will go... of course you could do volt mods, but i can't help you there sorry.
yeah, heat isnt the only thing that keeps a vid card from overclocking. sounds like u need to raise the voltage.

yeah, I obviously need to raise the voltage but I don't know how.. do any of you know?

My card ati 9600xt just oc to 585core 330 memory stock fan, maybe that sucka is getting hot check the temps around the video card or case temp mine does not get higher than 25 on a full load so check that out.

25c under full load?
How did you manage that?
Out of the box, Overdrive reported my temp at 38-40c and, after some work ( different HS with 60mm fan AND a 80mm sidepanel fan), I've managed to reduce this to the low 30's running 560/300.
I'd be interested to know what you have done to get yours running so cool with that OC....

Mine never gets up to 50-55 under full load (and no, I'm not talking about case temperatures). it never gets very hot, maybe 47 full load (that's the highest that I've seen it at, I'm sure it's gotten a LITTLE bit higher, but nothing it can't handle).. my question is, how do you get it to stay STABLE at 585/330? I can actually get my memory up to 350 with no problem, but my core won't go any higher than 550. Anybody know how I can prevent lockups with anything above 550? Because it hardly gets hot. so does anybody possibly know what the problem would be?

wow I got up to 590/339 stock but never play at that speed cause its no need to just to bench and find its max then back down to what I want it to be if its hot 550 but im in cali so I play with my oc and adjust it to my inside temp is.
