It gets really hot on the bottom of those things. I was wondering if anyone knew how to do something about it. I remember vaguely an review on a thing for cooling the bottom. Can anyone help me?

I have seen various laptop coolers including one that has a fan in the PCMCIA slot. Don't know how much it helps.

actually i got a new laptop that has been overheatin on me.

here's what i'd like to do, take a gel pad, like the gel keyboard wrist rests you can buy, run some hose thru it and cool it w/ water. then you just rest your laptop on top of gel pad. i think this would be very good for cooling.

I usually use a lap desk from Levenger (http://www.levenger.com/jump.asp?category=Furniture&subcategory=Desks) . They are real handy, keep the laptop off your private parts and allow you to extend the feet at the back so it cools better.

what i do is take a flat square plastic basket type thing turn it over and use the bottom to put my laptop on. it keeps it cool

I know it sounds a litlle extreme and perhaps off-topic but I am looking into watercooling for notebooks. biggest problem I encounter is making the pump and radiator portable. If I ever manage to get it actually working expect some pics... :D

Btw welcome back William... Had a good hollyday? :)
