;) My prescott boots at 122 Farenheit, and tops out at about 137 under
load. Am running an Abit, and have heard that Abit reports temps
too high. The 2.40 is stable at 2.88 and will go much faster after
I get some faster memory. Have booted it well over 3000 but had memory errors. Bought an aftermarket cooler made of copper and aluminum that looks like a big bowl w/a fan in the middle. A definite improvement over the block of metal Intel includes w/ this chip. Overall, am pleased with this new chip. Bigger cache! Am running it in a full tower w/lots of fans. It should take care of you. That 60's stoner band said - don't fear the reafer? Well, don't fear
the Prescott!

Welcome to the Forums! :attn:

We've an Intel CPU section, but I'll let it go.

I'll be honest: That is far too warm for a micrprocessor to operate in my opinion, but Intel does as Intel does.

@ TS.

You are right. Depending on the model, Abit reads temps between 10 and 13 degrees (celcius) too high, but its still way too high.

If it is 10 degrees celsius too hot, that is a huge farenheit reduction. Mine is a 2.4 533 fsb model. Anyone else overclocking one of these?

Ditch the MSI - I tried the same mobo, mine died, too. Finally got an Abit ICG-7.

CHAZZ, who did u say ditch the MSI to?

im getting the mobo in my signature... my friend a computer engineer has the MSI LSR and the PFISR is an improvement on the LSR so im confident

....the first one came DOA w/ a huge warp in the substrate under the socket... RMAed it and the new one will be here tomorrow...newegg has a great RMA policy and fast shipping...kudos
