Windows XP question ?

I've read from this article (http://yikesdoug.epinions.com/content_1413128324) that Windows XP won't let you use Easy CD Creator, WinAmp, and that it could check your computer to see if the programs you are using are originals or copies (burned). Are all of these things true ? or just B***S*** ? To know if I must go with LINUX or stay with Windows !

Easy Cd Creator Will work if you don't install Direct Cd.
Winamp works just fine for me so that ones Bull**it.
As far as XP telling on you about "Copied" software,That just seems rediculous to me.How the he** would it be able to do something like that!Especially since half of the people with XP out there are using hacked versions anyway! [Not me of course]
