Download speed

Hi guys,Im on a 512/256 connection and just set up my own apache server on this very comp im on right now. I put up some files for ppl to download from my server and they say the download speed is very slow (around 10kb). thier all on 512/256 broadband. Why is this? they live close to me (same city)
and we're all on fast broadband connection..does apache have a speed limiter or something? Sorry but im really new to this lol

You have 256 up, or about 32 peak kB per second. If there are 3 people downloading, it would go down to 10 per person...

well i have them download 1 at a time =/ thier all on the same ISP too

You could just have bad signal strength, or the isp is bogging down of some sort. Try the transfers via AIM or MSN messenger, and see if they go any faster. That way you will find out if its the server or your internet connection.

hmm yeah the tranfers rate is about the same takes quite a while to send a 10mb file >.<
