View Full Version : I Hate Norton!!!
I've been using NIS for about a year now and i'm really fed up with it. Every so often it causes memory leaks that create 2 Gig page files and grinds my pc to a halt just to let through pretty much all the viruses and adware that come my way anyway. It's caused major problems on my laptop too by somehow corrupting the hard drive causing iot to crash. As soon as i uninstalled it the problems went away. Can anyone recomend other internet security/ antivus software that wont be such a memory hog.
Welcome to the Forums
Look into Zone alarm for a fire wall and look At AVG Antivirus. Both are free and work very well.
Has anybody used VEXIRA by Central command
Hi Diehard is zonealrm free??? Well i don't think so mabye they will offer you a trial time but not free. So far It is a good firewall software that anybody can use even without little knowledge abt it.

There is a pro and a free version of ZA
"ZoneAlarm is free for individual and not-for-profit charitable entity use (excluding governmental entities and educational institutions)."
I agree, Norton products can have weird errors. I've gotten so tired of them, I don't even use anything with Norton in the name! HAH
except anti-virus :(
I recommend ZoneAlarm
Used norton system utilities once and it skrewed me system up bad!
Use Zonealarm and the AVG virus scan. Both are great and have free editions. Been using them for a long time and recommend them to all me friends and family!

I would check your RAM for errors, because sometimes faulty or incompatible RAM or RAM settings will cause you to have symptoms that appear to be a program's fault, because the program stressed the hardware enough to hit a weak spot. Inexperienced people often blame problems with hardware on a program, just because corruption occured after using the program and/or an error message appeared when or after running a program.
Faulty RAM, incompatible RAM or incompatible RAM configurations can cause you to get HDD data corruption.
Memtest86 (www.memtest86.com)
I recommend you run Memtest86 for 12 hours.
