Hello again...

Firstly let me say sorry for yet another temp. question.
but.
How accurate is the KT7a thermister? my system temp shows 30C and cpu of 38 with out loading, after some heavy 3d the cpu is up to 57~60C, with the system temp stable.

I want to overclock the thing as it came with the multiplier unlocked, but I'm affraid to do it due to the cpu temp.( if it is accurate)

I've increased the multi from 8.5 to 9, and the voltage from 1.6 to 1.7, but had graphics tearing in MadOnion, so I didnt Let the test finish to see what the temp would have been after.

Any one else with the same MOBO, tell me how accuate they think it is??
and
any guides on what the voltage should be increased by if the fsb or multi are increased.

Thx in advance.

Hi!

I have a KT7A-RAID with an Duron700 and a Alpha PAL6035 "Normal YS-Tech" ...

I got it up to 920 MHz @ 1.85V Bios setting (1.92V per MBM), the temperatures are usually from low-30īs to 45°C under load, Case temp is 30°C and lower.

Your CPU-temp under load is a bit high .... your cooler shouldnīt be so bad. Does the thermistor in the sockets have contact with the CPU ??? If yes, the reading should be comparable to others. BUT, these temperatures are usually very inaccurate, every combination of Mobo, Heatsink and airflow has a different value, you wonīt be able to get an accurate value, but you can use it as a "general" hint, whatīs might be wrong. Your system temp seems to be ok, could be a bit lower, but itīs not to high, you may have to check the airflow in the case, especially the area around the Heatsink.

Have you checked the mounting of your Heatsink, have you used a thin layer of thermal paste ???

I donīt know exactly, but if the heat transport to the Heatsink doesnīt work properly, the heat goes the other way and heats up the socket area ...

Well, it shouldnīt be a risk to rise the voltage up to the max (1.85V) of the board. My Duron has got 1.85V from beginning, and that was over 7 months ago and it still works ... ;)

You have to try out, which combination of FSB, Multi, Voltage and temperature gives you the best stable result, it takes some time .... ;)

AS for me..
I have the worst motherboard (lack of stability) mobo... the ABIT KT7A!

I have this....10 x 133/33

This is the best I could get!

VCORE of course 1.85V

and with a Alpha Pal 6035!

The temp I think is around 50C!

N my CPU is Tbird 1Ghz!
