Help! Installed GeForce 2 and system is dead!

Pleading for troubleshooting direction. Here's the background:
Asus A7V, Duron 800, 384K crucial memory, 300 wattPS, stealth III (yuk!).

Was upgrading to an Elsa 32Mb SDR GeForce2 (350) when I ran into serious problems. Everything going well the ELSA card was swapped and the PnP recognized the card and fired up in standard VGA setting. Then succesfully loaded the drivers from the CD - still going well. Next;did the system restart and trouble. The system appears to recognize the hardware config. (including elsa card), then boot process appears to do mem test, THEN the following failure loop:
Screen temporarily pops up,going to safe mode- then scandisk starts- then I get the dreaded blue screen of death :fatal exception OE at 015F:00000013. Cannot get out of this loop!

Swapped back to stealth vid card but no change. Also reseated all cards no change, also pulled all cards except original stealth no change ? What Next ??

Reinstall win98

I think that It can be memory. Try to push it accurately back and forth, and look if it some dust on the 'golden' connectors of memory bank.
At last try other mem. For example, your friend's or neighbour's.

Good suggestions so far, very well could be dirty connectors... also, because of when this is happening (sounds to me like its happening during windows startup/initializing) drivers could be the issue. Try some other drivers too.

U cant even get into safe mode? Reinstalling Windoze would tempt me at this position.

U could dig the net for how to restore registry from prompt, I know its backed up there somewhere, just dont remember filenames. Sorry.

I'm going with a format and reload of Win 98. This will also allow me the opportunity to start fresh wit hthe Elsa driver install.

One more question is anyone aware of any quirks with this video card or it's driver set; Elsa 32Mb SDR GeForce2 (350) ??

You could boot using a dos diskette and the run scanreg from the windows directory. Replace the registry with one of the 5 copies and see if the mother will boot.

The format and win98 reload did the trick.

Also used this opportunity to upgrade the bios from rev1002 to 1006 - BIG IMPROVEMENT !
