Hi guys, Just wondering how realistic it would be to air cool a peltier on a palamino, i dont know what kind of heat the put out put im sure a 172 watt peltier would do fine. just whether air alone could cool it effectively or is it necessarry to use water?

I could just stick with regular air or water cooling and not bother with a pelt at all.

what would you guys recommend?

You could do one of tw othings,
invest in a good HS/fan combo
Get a water cooling sys

A good HS/fan combo is only useful if it is good.
But then the noise is a problem.

Water cooling is quite (big plus) and you never have
to worry about how high your temps are. (they are always below critical).

I suggets the water cooling, but then again I
am biased.

An air cooled peltier is not a good idea on a Palimino.
There is just to much heat to try to get rid of.

With an AMD of that mhz you might want to water cool and save your hearing. I am not sure if you could air cool a peltier that large and still be able to hear over the fans.

Agreement all round on water cooling here too.....

with air cooling it is loud but you also never have to worry about the big spark because you sprung a leak from one of your hoses.

("*I'M NOT KNOCKING WATER*") because I'm thinkin of going water soon, when I get comfortable enough to try it.

Thanks guys, it looks like water cooling for me then!

Next question.... is it worth using a peltier or 2? (side by side not stacked) or will water keep it cool enough alone? or possibly chilled water? I assume with chilling the water condensation is less of a problem, would that be correct?

Colin has only been able to cool two pelts with his seven foot water tower. He has gotten better results, but not by a whole lot. Get the dual block if you think you might go there eventually but stick with one in the beginning.

I'm pretty sure i could rig something up to cool 2 peltiers no problem, but if u reckon i should go with one i will. how about using peltiers to cool the water?

using pelts to cool water is no where near as effective as using a pelt to cool the cpu.

ok thx! so a single 172watt pelt on CPU, now should i use a radiator or a cooling tower? a radiator would let me use more additives, but a cooling tower cools better......

derfinately go with a large cooling tower. 5 feet with a good pump will keep the water nice and cold. You will have to watch your water levels though.

ok got it, unfortunately that means i cant dye the coolant :( i spose i could use neon silicone tubing...... but they dont do blue........
