2000 repair question

this system had an upgrsde instesd of a clean install. (98 to 2k)
its had weied issues since...if i run a repair reinstall, will it lose my settings? (background, start menu, desktop files, ect? i'd like to know :)

All of your personal settings should remain unaffected, you will however need to re-download all service packs and updates and reapply them.

In the future I would suggest a backup of all critical files and fresh install of your OS of choice.

thanks, i jsut wanted to make sure that the stuff would still be there, i hate hunting stuff down.

redoing the updates wont be a problem, and a full backup fresh install will be done in a few months...i'm just looking for a quick bandaid :)
