Hello!

Got a (silly?) question reg. T-birdīs; How come the proc with 266FSB is cheaper than the 200FSB one? Iīm running around in the wilderness, believing a 266FSB is a better (and more expensive) one?

Anybody out there?

Supply and Demand. AMD is not producing as many 100/200 CPU's.

couldn't tell ya... I don't see why 200mhz would be better anyway.

The truth is, for overclockers, it really doesn't matter. Say you have a 1 GHz/266 chip of stepping AXIA-Y and a 1 GHz/200 chip of the same stepping. There really isnt any difference between the two other than the FSB that AMD specified. For the most part, you can unlock a 200 FSB athlon and run it at 266 with a lower multiplier. Same deal visa versa with a 266 chip - raise the multiplier and lower the FSB and it'll run just fine.

The most important thing is getting your hands on a good stepping. (AXIA-Y, AHJYA-Y, AXIAR-Y, etc.)

The 266 one is better right?
