I just bought a 120mm fan from compusa, and it has a thermal sensor on it to where it will work harder when it is hotter and work less when it is cold (obviously) i want it to work the hardest all the time how can i disable this function

How about a link or manufacturor and model. There may be a way if we know what you got.

Thanks

its a power logic dc brushless fan model: pl12d12m, what would happen if i take out the sensor and just connect the two wires, me thinks either total power or no power

Connecting the two wires will most likely give you full power. Every fan I've seen with thermistor control goes full speed with no resistance on the sensor wire. You can also wire up a potentiometer to the sense wire, and have an adjustable fan. I did that with a 120mm Vantec Thermoflow. Just measure the resistance of the thermistor with a multimeter, and get a potentiometer with corresponding values.

I couldn't find the fan through frrogle or on compusa site. I found a 120mm fan but not sure if it is the right one or not.

Since I'm not sure, can't see the thing, I don't know for sure.

ZachM is correct if you can remove the sensor and put a jumper in its place, that will/should make it go full speed. That is the way my temp sensing fans do anyway.

Hope that helps.
