acrylic is the plastic that carries light through it the best, better than lexan, right?

i am going to be making a cutout like i suggested in this thread ( http://www.ocforums.com/showthread.php?t=301675 )and what i want to do is back it with acrylic and put leds into the side so that it will illuminate the whole piece. It will not be that big so the fact that it is not as strong as lexan is ok, correct?

btw: where can i get the best 3mm leds and what do i need to hook them into my ps?

btw: how do you make a link so it says like "this" but the word "this" is a link to a page?

{ = square bracket
Instead of having {url}http://www.overclockers.com{/url} put a {url=http://www.overclockers.com}O/C Forums{/url}

So instead of http://www.overclockers.com you have O/C Forums (http://www.overclockers.com)

Don't know about the acryllic though, mine looks really clear. www.besthongkong.com is supposedly good, and good prices too.

the light transmittance properties are so similar for your application it won't matter

if you can afford it, go lexan

what is the price difference, i won't need very big sheets at all, at most this will be around 5"x5", but i know you can't buy that small. I am gonna go shop around at local plastic shops soon, but what is an estimate?

do you know a good place to buy 3mm leds?

lol, for sheets that small, next to nothing... it's about 30% more, I've found, but you're looking at $4 vs $6, though your thickness will matter. voyeurmods.com has been good for me as far as LED, and ebay, too.

to insert a 3mm led i would need a 1/4 inch thick piece correct, will 3mm be bright enough for the application?

have you seen the laser cut side panels that falcon norhtwest does? thats kind of waht im going for except smaller and i guess i don't really want to see into the case, is there a kind acrylic or lexan that is clouded or something that will still allow light to pass through and be seen, but that you can't see into the case with (im not sure if i'll do that or go with something clear)

actually the size will probably be 5"x5" for the logo and a proportional size for the "amd" part so maybe a 6x9 piece (leaving room around the sides) that's 1/4" thick
