OC Community,

In your experience is there any advantage when network with CAT 5E+ (350 mhz) as apposed to normal cat 5? What speed increases are we talking or is it just a cleaner signal with less dropped packets? I appreciate you input.

The only difference between CAT-5 and 5e is that the 5e has better bandwidth. If your using 100Meg NIC cards and lower you will notice no difference in speed, packet loss, or signal quality.

That is if your using quality CAT-5 to begin with.

The only place that 5e pays off is if your using 1000M network components, and it still won't really pay off, 5e is only rated to 600 MB/s.

the only reason to use cat 5e is to run gigabit ethernet but you can also use 5e to slightly extend your range on 100 base t
