OC Community,
Which stepping would be best for a 1000 mhz Pentium III SMP setup? How do you tell without installing the procs? I appreciate you input.

cDO stepping.
You have to look at the code on the cpu then use the chart here:

I still thinks its BS that intel killed the SMP on the Celeron2s. They did it cause they were afraid of the true power that these botched P/// really hold. There has to be a work adound for it somewhere.

Like I said total BS their afraid that people will quit buying P///s and just buy two celeron2s Oc them and then never buy another P/// just because of the price. Because if you look at it ok a P/// os 256k cache and a celeron is 128k cache so then two celeron2s are 256k cahce now what is the price diff in them? quite a bit in most cases and well I rest my case.
Botched P///s should have the same rights as a normal P/// quit nutering them!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Ok rant over

Any stepping is good for SMP. But OCing is a different story.

cD0's are becoming more and more prominent, and are the chip of choice. cC0's aren't bad either. I would avoid cB0's however if you want a really good OC.

out of those two its the cco. they make less heat. the 850 is historicly a bad clocker because of the multiplyer but if your mobo is suited to it your golden
I'd have to say a 700E cdo or cco - both usually make it to 1ghz or higher, and gives your bus a good boost too.
