I thought about water cooling a lot, and now that i've decided to give it a go, i started thinking what if the water fries my system...
now i thought of an option... to make a water block large enought so that the water intake and outtake are outside the case, thus limiting the chance if any leak happens that it will fry anything...
what do you think about it? can i even make one that big?
A block that big would probably chip your core. If you have an AMD motherboard, you probably have four holes next to your processor socket that would be able to hold something that heavy, but it still could cause problems with seating right.
If you use good equipment, and good sealants, then it shouldn't be a problem. If you really want to play it safe, you could flush your system with deionized water, then fill it with the deionized. Since it doesn't conduct electricity, you ideally don't have to worry if it ever did leak (except for the fact that you'd lose coolant).
Try and use aluminium parts for your 'elongated' waterblock to cut down on the weight so it straps on *safer*. But I have never heard of someone's waterblock springing a leak and shorting everything to hell.
...well, maybe just one or two things but not everything...:D
