View Full Version : RAM sink attachment which is better...?
Should I use thermal tape or thermal adhesive for attaching RAM sinks?
I plan on mixing a bit of AS Thermal adhesive and AS5 together(so it is NOT a completly permanent bond) and attaching my RAM sinks.
If I so use thermal tape, it will be the higher quality stuff. I am just curious as to which would most likely produce better results. Thx.

I would think that the thermal adhesive/AS5 mixture would be A LOT better at cooling than the thermal tape. Also, (at least for me) my thermal tape that I had on my sb and mosfets fell off after about a month of use. I ordered some AS Adhesive and I plan on mixing it with AS5. Should get here today, so I can tell you how it went tommorow. The mixture takes awhile to set, so I'd do it overnight.
Update: I'm all done and back up and running. The mix of adhesive and AS5 really worked well. Its on firmly, and my heatsinks are warmer to the touch than they were with the frag tape. I'm really happy I went with this over the thermal tape.
Which card did you do it to..the 5200? Have you tried to get a higher OC outta the memory yet? If so, how much of a jump? What type of RAM sinks are you using? Thx.
These were actually attached to my mosfets on my motherboard. Same principle tho....

Lejend, where is the pci lock in the BIOS menu? I can't find it. It maybe there and I'm just blind. I have the plain NF7 v2.0, if that matters.
Thanks. Plan to try overclocking in a bit. :D

I'm don't think I have found it either.... Try Lvcoyote's Site (http://www.lvcoyote.com/) Check out the bios settings. Maybe I missed it.

I didn't see it so I used the find command. It didn't find it either. Crap, where is this thing? If I find it, I'll post for you.
Just like cereal. Same thing in the box but so many choices. Think about it for a while. A whole aisle in the store for corn something.
