I've always been wondering if 3dmark scores meant anything in the real world and I've come with the answer no. A 400 points difference is ~3 fps.My specs are:
Intel Celeron 800@1064 (133x8.0)
Abit VT6X4
320MB PC133 SDRAM
2 x 20GB 7200 rpm Hard disk
Asus V7700 Deluxe Geforce 2 GTS (not OCed)
Sound Blaster Live!
etc...
I know it's not a high end machine but it works well. I get a score of 5078 using 12.xx drivers and 5715 using 7.xx and 8.xx in 3dmark2000. In 2k1 I get 3198 with the DX8 optimized drivers and 2513 with DX 7 drivers. Is that normal? It seems pretty low compared to the results at guru3d in the detonator database. I don't have an Athlon but how can a GF2 MX beat a GTS? There's just something that's not normal. Celeron or not it just seems weird. What scores are you guys getting?
