I've been suffering lots of random reboots and freezes lately. Sometimes I'll get a blue screen saying "IRQL_not_equal_or_less" and things like "change video advice driver". But I've tried every single driver combination out there! Changed my mobo to older drivers, tried 4 different drivers for the video card and I still get hardlocks with these msgs.

So today I reformatted my computer. But the problem still remains. It no longer gives me a blue screen, instead just freezes and hardlocks.I ran memtest86 and atitool to find anything wrong with my memory and videocard, but they're in perfect shape. I decided to take a look in my event viewer log and here's what the error msg says.

The COM+ Event System failed to fire the ConnectionMade method on subscription {C6864FD2-D85F-4BC7-ABA5-06DE53FE5AD3}-{00000000-0000-0000-0000-000000000000}-{00000000-0000-0000-0000-000000000000}. The subscriber returned HRESULT 80004001.

I tried looking this up over at MS site, but they have no info about it. I have no idea what it means.

But the reason why I think it might be my PSU is because I remember last week my 3.3v rail from MBM readings was actually fluxing between 3.26v and 3v. I'm about to install MBM again and see what it reads. So what do y'all think?

Btw, system specs

2500 xp (stock)
leadtek mobo
kingston pc3200 ram
350 watt generic PSU
radeon 9000 pro

Any help will be appreciated.

Yes, its quite possible that thats a power supply issue. Under load, your comp seems to draw more power than the psu can supply so it crashes. Try getting a nice enermax psu or an Antec True Power. Make sure you get atleast 400 watts too, but if you want it to last you awhile, you might want to think about getting more watts.

It can also be a RAM issue. Also, most mobos read the voltages wrong. You should double check the readings with a multimeter (see the ATX Power Pinouts link in my sig for details on reading with a multimeter and a link to a cheap multimeter).

Thanks mr. radar, that guide was very useful. So far my voltages seems to be okay so far. I've installed MBM on this comp and had it run 24/7 for the past week. here's a little sample of it.

Highs:
CPU Diode 64c
CPU Socket 62c
Case 55c

Lows
CPU Diode 49c
CPU Socket 46c
Case 40c
Could it be a heat issue? Since it's summer and I live in houston, heat is a major issue here. Weird thing is I had this exact same setup last year during the summer and it never crashed on me like this.

P.S. Forgive me for responding so slowly. Life had managed to get in the way of troubleshooting this comp.

No problem with the slow reply.

That CPU temp is looking pretty high, but I think that's because your case is very hot (if MBM is right). Have you tried taking the side off the case and putting a desk fan or box fan or something blowing into it? If the temps drop alot (5*C or more) then run the comp like that for a while and see if it crashes. If it doesn't crash then you've found the cause of the trouble. Also, when was the last time you dusted your comp out?
