Seems like yesterday when I passed 1920x1080i-How??? at 103K points. I just realized I have passed him again and have taken 12th place overall. Next up is halo, actually I should pass him momentarily. That gets me to 11th. MUST HAVE TOP 10 :D

Great work Nik! Keep lining 'em up and knocking 'em down. It's good for the team to have guys like you at the top. I just made it to page 2, and it looks like I'm gonna be here a while. Trying to hold off Johan. Took Fast's advice and removed the advmethods flag - produced over 1000 points more this week than my best previous week (3900+ vs 2900ppw). I recommend anyone with an HT P4 do the same; maybe I was just lucky but I got more DGromacs after removing the flag. If the rest of the team could boost their production like I did with no hardware changes, our production could really improve.

Exactly what happened with me. MUCH more DGromacs than with -advmethods. Good job on moving up Nik! As far as taking first place, Nik would need to up his production 20,000 points per day just to TIE Oc-AMD's production. Then there's the 4 million or so point lead.

extreme stats shows you in 13th place overall? Still you have done wonderful things and I wish you luck in your top 10 quest. I on the other hand hope to get into the top 500 in about a yr. :D Don't know if I can make it though. My power bill is killing me every month. I could shut down the pump on the doughboy but I dont think the family would like that.

Have a look here: http://vspx27.stanford.edu/cgi-bin/main.py?qtype=userstats Extreme puts a user in 4th place for some reason, it adds an extra member, where stanford does not list it as a user... that is why. According to stanford, I am now officially in 11th in teh world! w000r!

I just took a closer look at the All Users stats and realized that Nik is outproducing several companies, universities and even a few countries! :p Interesting way to look at it, no?

If production rates stay roughly the same, looks like [H] will get knocked off their porcelain throne by the end of this month. Even though it won't be us passing them (yet), it will be good to see a change at the top. Also looks like all the top teams have seen a production spike in the last couple days. Large quantities of DGromacs, like I've been seeing, might be somewhat responsible. What do you think?

I did the same thing with plext... I passed him and within 2 months he went sailing right by me like I was sitting still... then I passed him a second time!

Don't know... he says no, but there have been 3 instances of people seeing F@H on their PC's with his username and they didn't install it. Pandegroup is looking closer at the matter to see what is up.

I always say... I welcome any folder who can outfold me (with permission to use the hardware of course!!) it's great fun and it's great for the project as a whole. If your borging PC's without permission... then that is REALLY bad for the project.

None of my machines run F@H as a service... I can't have F@H running on them when users are on them... part of the deal I made to get permission to use them. So I have to use scheduled tasks to start/stop F@H. That is why you see my points are so high at night and weekends and dip during the day.

Being these PC's are in 13 offices in all 4 time zones... people go home and turn their computers off, I have to go wake them up. When one is reimaged I have to reinstall F@H along with the scheduled task... and i don't use any type of installer. (Can't with the scheduled task because a password needs to be entered when setting it up)

I have scripts that turn them on, but the wake on lan proxies don't always work and I have to reset them... it's time consuming.

Hey someone noticed my sig :D

OC-AMD and nikhsub1 are only power folding because they did and still do whatever it takes. I don't have any borgs and even in house machines have to be checked daily to fix any problems that can crop up. Borgs are ten times the effort compared to a local machine.

It's great to see the Vijay is taking a solid stance on this. Not only because of the unfair competition, but because of the chance of tarnishing F@H's name.

I find it absurd that some people are upset about loss of rankings. The competition that we folders have is all well and good, and it inspoires us to greater folding goals, but it should not become such an obsession that we have to cheat for points.

I realize that I will probably never catch the big dogs on our team like nik and Wedo. That is OK. I don't need to cause chaos and endanger the project to get my #s up

Me? I think he should be prosecuted... what he made, this .msi installer is very sneaky, installs into a windows directory, the services are named after windows services etc. You don't make something like that for casual use. Wedo's one click installs in Program Files\FAH... Then, this .msi package was released as some Adobe hack/crack or whatever which it is not. People on P2P's got hold of it, tried to run it, but nothing happened, or so they thought. To me, this is worse than a virus... it badly tarnishes the whole FAH project. FAH is NOT a virus, yet the way this went down, it makes it seem like it is a virus to people that know nothing about it, all they see is that it is using up mad resources. I would fully prosecute this guy to the full extent of the law if I were Vijay. But I'm not, and this is just my opinion

Audioaficionado

I agree with nikhsub1. He essentually wrote software that acted like a worm/virus and took over someone's resorces without informed permission and that's a felony I believe.

Plaxicity
06-10-04, 08:59 AM
This was very wrong in many ways, especially for the projects credibility and legal reasons.

But

If it was put onto the p2p networks as a Crack.
I believe that the person who downloaded a crack deserves what's coming to them.

Oh and Congratulations to nikhsub1, keep it up :)

SavageBasher
06-10-04, 12:39 PM
Yeah, but if you put it as a crack, it should be a CRACK, nothing else. Adding FAH to it would be the same as spyware, only worse, because notthing will pick it up, and the user won't have a clue as to why thier temps have gone up or why thier games are losing frames.
