I know on RDRAM boards you have to use 'continuity' chips to fill in your unused ram slots. So i was wondering, is there anything on the market today that is like a slot 'filler' that lets off light or something?

Or even something that feeds off of different power and just sits in the slot to perhaps cool your other 2x or 1x memory sticks?

Pardon me if its a really stupid question, just wondering..

Anyone? Also, if anything is in the ram slot does it automatically try to detect what it is? Or does it HAVE to be gold contacts?

you don't want to stick anything into a ddr dimm slot other than a real live stick of ddr ram. :D. AFAIK there is nothing on the market for ddr systems like you speak of.
