OK first off, to all of you who SAID and thought this was a hard mod , i want to set something straight. IT ISN'T. This is the easiest mod i have ever done. True its a newer model, maybe 2 years old, monitor, but still. 4 Screws and 2 clips poped later its dissasembled. Took 5 minutes to get the back and the face and the stand off. Yes 5mintues!
Also, you dont really have that much risk of death, i didnt need to touch anything harmful, but just for fun i started proding (ya i know its stupid, but if you dont get caught youll do it again, so i wanted to do it till i ended up like (was it baller) that got shocked)
Now, its dissasembled so i painted those halves, easily. Took a LONG time to dry..damn krylon, but came out fairly nice, so impressed. I didnt even take the buttons out they are perfect. I could have changed the led but i didnt want to.
To any of those thinking about this, be warned you COULD die, but like me prolly wont. I am no electrician and i made it. Take your time (will 5 minutes really kill you to move the protected monitors guts out of its think plastic shell?
Anyways here are some pics. Good luck to anyone who tries.
Total Time Breakdown :
(Dissasembly) 5 minutes
(Painting/Drying) 3 hours (firstcoat) + 8 hours (second and third coat + touchups)
(Reassembly) Just Under 6 minutes
Skill rating: I barley know anything except those wires deliver energy to power this tv like object. Can you work a screw driver ? Can you push in plastic clips? Yes? Your all set, just get a friend to help. My friend pushed the clips as i slid the back piece off.
Good luck, here are some pictures...
